Program Background
A program rich in football history, football has been played in Vernon since the late 1800s. The program has a state championship (1990), five trips to the State Finals (89, 90, 95, 21, 23) and 8 appearances in the Ciac State Playoffs (89, 90, 95, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23) . The Rams have won 10 league titles spending time in the Connecticut Valley Conference, the Central Connecticut Conference, and the Pequot Conference. Rockville has sent multiple players to the NFL, most notably Super Bowl Champion Bill Romanowski. They also have an alumni, Stephen Marshall who has coached in both division 1, and the NFL.
The Rams had fallen on hard times after the retirement of legendary Coach Tom Dunn (1979-2004) compiling a 12-70 record from 2010-2017. The Rams created "Restore the Rock" slogan in 2018 and have began to turn Rockville back around.

The Rams went 7-3 in 2018 qualifying for a post season birth, and went 10-0 in 2019 winning the Pequot League for the first time, and advancing to the State Semis. The 2020 game season was cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, and the team created a 7on7 league. In 2021 the Rams picked up from 2019 and went 8-2, qualified for the state tournament and advanced to the state championship game before falling to Killingly 28-14. The 2022 team made it back to the state semifinals after finishing 8-2. In 2023, the Rams made it back to the State Finals after a 9-1 season and two thrilling 14-13 playoff victories.
